Over 50 NEW exciting varieties of hostas for 2008 and new pictures are posted!

HOSTAS

The most popular perennial in the United States and the world today – and justly so, for several reasons.  They are almost indestructible and they multiply into large clumps that can be divided easily.  They come in a wide variety of sizes from as little as 1-2” up to 3’ tall and 6’ wide.  There are thousands of varieties from blues, greens, and golds to beautifully variegated forms.  Many have beautiful and very fragrant flowers.  Finally, they grow in the shade, 1/3 to 2/3 sun, and some can even grow in full sun in humus rich soil.  Many people grow them in pots and display them on patios, decks, stairs, walkways, etc. as well as in the garden.  They are incredibly hardy and can be grown from zones 4-9.

We have added many small and dwarf hostas because many people prefer them to use in troughs, mixed pots, smaller gardens and even to plant between large hostas for textural contrast and borders. Because of their small size, you can better enjoy their total conformation. If you use them mixed with larger hostas, give them enough space to ‘shine’ and not be deprived of light by larger plants.
